1950 - 1986 La Ideal Meat Market In his online article, Cuban Chinese Restaurants, Larry Tung speaks of the New York restaurants established by Chinese Cuban immigrants, many of whom settled in this area in Manhattan. At one time there were three Chinese Cuban restaurants on this stretch of 8th Avenue. Sam Chinita's, at 176 8th, four buildings to the north was the most recent casualty of the changing face of New York City. That 1930's era streamline Diner was razed in 2000.
